Children come to 1st grade at many different stages of reading development. Our goal is to help each student increase his or her skills and develop a life long love of reading.
Parents often find it helpful to see what a typical student is reading at different points in the year. As with any skill, some children will be reading above that level and need enrichment and others will still be working toward the benchmark, so they'll receive extra support from teachers and parents. Teachers work hard to match children with books that are "just right" in both interest and skill level.
