The winter weather is here! Please help your child to be prepared for outdoor recess and snow play. We got out everyday unless there is precipitation and the temperature is above 20 degrees. We strongly encourage kids to come prepared to play in the snow whenever possible, as there is little to do on the hardtop during snowy weather. Helping your child get into snow gear quickly and independently will help them get outside and enjoy as much outdoor recess time as possible! Kids need snow pants, boots, a coat, hat and mittens. Remember... Dress head to toe to play in the snow! It's also very important that kids have shoes to change into once they are inside school. This is true every day, but it's especially important on PE days. Feet get hot in boots, and wet boots make our classroom and hallway floors dirty and unsafe. We really appreciate your help with this!
Family Traditions
First graders will develop an understanding of traditions as special customs that are celebrated by families or groups. Students will share their own family traditions through a special home-school project.

This was one of the Fales Book of the Month selections in 2016. The children in this story share the different traditions, customs and languages that their moms have brought from other countries. The author's message is...although moms have different ways of dressing, talking and eating...they all have something for common- a great love of their children.
